ABOUT REID SWEENEY
Reid is an aspiring driver with goals to compete professionally in sports cars or open-wheel racing. He’s 18 years old, born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. Reid recently completed his first season in sports car racing after winning a scholarship from Mazda Motorsports. Reid’s been racing karts competitively since he was eight years old, and has been fortunate to have competed and won at some of the greatest racing facilities in the country, including Daytona International Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Circuit of the Americas, and Charlotte Motor Speedway. He has amassed more than 90 wins and 11 championships in various classes at local, regional and national level competitions. When he’s not on track, he stays sharp at home on a racing simulator and competes in various iRacing leagues.
In 2021, Reid successfully completed the Lucas Oil Racing School and Advanced School and was granted his Full Competition License from the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). In 2022, he was invited by Mazda Motorsports to attend a two-day testing event as an introduction to the Spec MX-5 car. He was soon nominated to compete in the 2022 Mazda Motorsports Spec MX-5 Shootout and won a scholarship to compete in the 2023 Spec MX-5 Challenge Series as a Mazda Motorsports Club Racing Factory Driver.
Reid is currently competing in the IMSA sanctioned Mustang Challenge series with Robert Noaker Racing, a spec racing series with Ford Performance and the Mustang Darkhorse R.
He has his future sights set on competing in the 24 Hours of Daytona or Le Mans 24 Hour endurance races.
